| In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
Pink might seem like an odd color when trying to get people to take a stand against bullying. The color is completely based on a stand that was taken in the fall at Central Kings High School, in Cambridge, Nova Scotia. A new student was coming to this new school for the first day. The boy showed up in the morning wearing a pink button down shirt. Some school bullies were verbally abusive towards him for his choice of color. They used some very hurtful words and made him very upset. Two students heard about the bullying taking place and decided to take a stand against it. The two students went to a local store and bought every pink t-shirt they could find. They spread the word on Facebook to try to get all of the students to wear pink the next day. When they got to school the next day, they handed out all of the pink shirts and the rest is history! The bullies were not happy about the stand. Everyone else thought it was a heroic, creative way to take a stand against bullying. The Canadian media picked up the story, and eventually, it spread to the United States media. It is for this act of courage that we recognize this day today. Lord, please remind us never to discriminate against anyone based on real or perceived differences. Let us pray: Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen. |

Le rose peut sembler une couleur étrange lorsque l’on tente d’amener les gens à prendre position contre l’intimidation. La couleur est entièrement basée sur un stand qui a été pris à l’automne à la Central Kings High School, à Cambridge, en Nouvelle-Écosse. Un nouvel étudiant venait dans cette nouvelle école pour le premier jour. Le garçon est arrivé le matin avec une chemise boutonnée rose. Certains intimidateurs de l’école ont été verbalement abusifs envers lui pour son choix de couleur. Ils ont utilisé des mots très blessants et l’ont bouleversé. Deux étudiants ont entendu parler de l’intimidation et ont décidé de prendre position contre cela. Les deux étudiants sont allés dans un magasin local et ont acheté tous les t-shirts roses qu’ils pouvaient trouver. Ils ont fait passer le mot sur Facebook pour essayer d’amener tous les élèves à porter du rose le lendemain. Quand ils sont arrivés à l’école le lendemain, ils ont distribué toutes les chemises roses et le reste appartient à l’histoire! Les intimidateurs n’étaient pas satisfaits du stand. Tout le monde pensait que c’était une façon héroïque et créative de prendre position contre l’intimidation. Les médias canadiens ont repris l’histoire et finalement, elle s’est propagée aux médias américains. C’est pour cet acte de courage que nous reconnaissons ce jour aujourd’hui. Seigneur, veuillez nous rappeler de ne jamais discriminer quiconque sur la base de différences réelles ou perçues. Nous prions : Notre Père, qui es aux cieux, que ton nom soit sanctifié. Ton royaume vient. Que ta volonté soit faite, sur la terre comme au ciel. Donne-nous aujourd’hui notre pain quotidien et pardonne-nous nos offenses comme nous pardonnons à ceux qui nous ont offensés; et ne nous induis pas en tentation, mais délivre-nous du mal. Amen. |
